Brainspotting

Brainspotting (BSP) was founded in 2003 by David Grand. BSP is a brain based tool used in adjunct with traditional therapy practices and follows the basic principle of "Where you look, affects how you feel." It is the brain activity, especially in the subcorticol brain, that organizes itself around that particular eye position. This helps the BSP therapist locate, process and release a wide range of emotional and physical conditions. When a brain spot is stimulated, the deep brain to reflexively signal the therapist that a trauma and/or problem area have been located. The goal of brainspotting is to bypass the conscious brain, to access the deeper parts of the brain.

POST TRAUMATIC GROWTH

"YOUR SURVIVAL AND EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING DEPENDS UPON YOUR ABILITY TO FIND MEANING IN LIFE GREATER THAN YOUR OWN SELF INTERESTS."
~Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning

WHY HORSES

  • Horses, just like people, have unique organizational cultures. They live in herds, which are similar to family systems. They find comfort and safety within a herd.
  • Their structure and substructures are based on "rank" and require boundaries.
  • Understanding and enforcement of boundaries are key to emotional and physical safety
  • Behaviors are developed to deal with demands of living in the system structure
  • Horses seek connection and can engage in health, genuine connection, relationship and partnership
  • Horses have the exceptional ability to read non-verbal cues and to respond naturally and spontaneously to people's needs
